The Capital Fair is on through this coming Sunday, August 27, at the Rideau Carleton Entertainment Centre, 4837 Albion Road.
A midway, a petting zoo and pony rides, Doo Doo’s Dance Party, a birds of prey show, the Travelin’ Farmer, 4H competitions, an English Horse Jumping Show, the Soper Creek Wildlife Rescue, daily stunt dog shows, magic shows, and daily appearances by a hypnotist are part of the fun. The Agricultural Pavilion is home to the Museum of Agriculture’s educational demonstrations and food preparation demonstrations as well.
Tonight, Wednesday, August 23, it’s Cruise Night at the fair and, weather permitting, over 100 classic cars will be on parade.
Tomorrow, Thursday, August 24, there’s a Thursday 10 Rides-for-$10 Food Bank program to support the Ottawa Food Bank. Anyone who brings a non-perishable food donation may purchase a 10 ride bracelet for only 10 dollars.

On Saturday, August 26, Chase and Marshall from Paw Patrol are at the fair from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are six 30-minute sessions offered with the stars, at a cost of $10 per child. Advance booking is recommended. There’s also a Monster Show Saturday, August 26.
The popular fair dates back to 1975 and a celebration then known as the Gloucester Festival of Friends.
The Capital Fair features free admission, Eastern Ontario’s largest Midway, a monster truck show, a backyard critter zoo, daily stunt dog shows, magic shows, a hypnotist and more.
