Have you hopped on your bike and gone for a good, long ride lately? If not, join Capital Vélo Fest at an upcoming bike rally. Capital Vélo Fest is an Ottawa based non-profit organization with the mission to “Inspire People of All Ages to Ride a Bike More Often.”
Its 2017 bike rallies guide participants on a bike ride along lesser known cycling trails and routes in the region in search of answers to quirky questions and identifying local artifacts of interest. It is a fun and healthy way to spend a few hours on your bike with family, friends and colleagues in a unique adventure in the Capital!
The next public bike rally is Saturday, September 16. It is a fundraiser for the Canada Africa Partnership Network to raise funds to provide homeless teenage women in Uganda with safe shelter, education and job skills.
You can ride in a team of three to six people in a discovery quest along bike paths and low traffic volume streets while supporting a worthy charity. The event includes the bike rally, a yummy African-themed banquet and prizes for rally participants. You can register individually or as a team, and if you have friends who would prefer not to ride, they can register for just the banquet. It starts at 11 a.m from the Ottawa Tennis and Lawnbowling Club at 176 Cameron Ave. For more information, and to register online, visit the Brighter Futures Bike Rally website.
