Do you have a future actor in your family?

Learn about acting by getting onto the stage at OYP Theatre School. OYPTS started as the vision of a single volunteer, and has since evolved into a vital part of Ottawa’s arts education scene.

“ New this year? An On-Camera Camp! Students will make their own film short. Exciting!”   says Kathi Langston, the artistic director for OYP Theatre School.

OYPTS has a great assortment of sets, props and costumes and the students and teachers will create and perform their stories and plays. All camps end with a performance onstage with lights, costumes, sound and a great deal of fun. From Monday through Thursday, students will work and play in the OYPTS studios learning about acting and theatre as they prepare for their performance. All camp performances take place in the Shenkman Arts Centre Richcraft Theatre on Fridays at 3 p.m.

“This year there will be an opportunity for young adults aged 16 and over to work after hours in the Summer Encore on stage and in the park.”  Langston says.

At OYP Theatre School class size is limited giving students a more valuable acting experience. English and French camps include acting, musical camps, Shakespeare, film acting and improv, all taught by Ottawa theatre professionals.

OYP Theatre School also offers year-round intensives and classes for all ages in French and English as well as March Break programming. All summer camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (with before and after care available) in the OYP Theatre School Studios at the Shenkman Arts Centre, 245 Centrum Boulevard in Orleans. Summer camps begin in July. For more information call 613 580-2764 and visit www.oypts.ca.
