Fun at Kinburn Swampfest

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Check out the fifth annual Swampfest taking place in Kinburn. This end-of-summer celebration includes live musical performances— from classic country to bluegrass—by local entertainers as well as other activities for kids of all ages, including free canoe and kayak rides, plus family games. A highlight of the summer in the west-Ottawa village, Swampfest is a fundraiser for the Kinburn Community Association. Back in 2010, the first Swampfest was a celebration of the 180th anniversary of the founding of the village. It takes its name from Swamp Tavern, the village’s first business. The tavern came into being around 1830 and was one of the few stopping places along the Ottawa-Arnprior Road. Although the tavern and the swamp are long gone, the name has been kept to recognize Kinburn’s roots.

This year’s musical lineup includes the Swampfest Show Band, featuring Kyle Felhaver, Bryan Snider and Charlotte Van Barr; Imali and Stephen; the Mud Hens and Andy Bowes and Brad Scott. The menu includes local elk burgers.

Location: 3045 Kinburn Side Rd
