Silflay String Quartet is in the spotlight at the Shenkman Arts Centre November 16, as part of the Café Classico series. Formed in 2013, Silflay features violinists Leah Roseman and Mark Friedman, along with violist Paul Casey and cellist Karen Kang. Leah and Mark are members of the National Arts Centre Orchestra. Showcasing members of the NAC Orchestra and the Ottawa Suzuki Strings, Café Classico is an informal afternoon concert in a cabaret-style atmosphere in the Shenkman’s upper lobby. Stellae Boreales, Ottawa Suzuki Strings’ premier performance violin ensemble, opens each concert. These performers are aged 12 to 17 and most have been studying violin since age 4 or 5. Besides symphony classics, this November event also features coffee and croissants from the Black Walnut Bakery. Tickets, $10, are limited. Call 613 580-2700. For details, see shenkmanarts.ca.
