Hit the trails at MacSkimming Outdoor Education Centre

Take a hike, dude. Tomorrow, October 5, the public school board’s MacSkimming Outdoor Education Centre is opening its trails for everyone to explore.

A 425-acre outdoor classroom in Ottawa’s east end , it’s usually used by students to learn about natural science, local history, outdoor recreation and leadership.  Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., it’s all yours.  And there’s no entrance fee!

Staff members and volunteers will offer guided hikes and activities at the four different locations. The main office and Waterfront Field Centre are at 3635 Highway#174, Forest Edge Field Centre is at 3640 Highway #174, Pioneer Village is at 3700 Wilhaven Drive and Trails End Field Centre is at 3685 Wilhaven Drive.

Trails End, Pioneer Village and Forest Edge are accessible by trails, but the Waterfront Field is not accessible to the rest of the sites. Bring your hiking shoes, camera or binoculars, but please leave the dog at home.
