I was talking with a few of my friends the other day and we got on the topic of baby books. There was one woman who did not have books for either of her kids, and the two with 3 kids had one full one, one partially finished and one brand new in the package! I have my son’s, who is 2 and a half, and it is half filled and my daughters who is 14 months, I have just her name, date of birth, and weight! Are baby books becoming retro due to technology or lazy parents?!
I love reading through my own baby book at my parents house, and one day out of curiosity, I asked my mom how she found time to fill all four of her children’s books, since we were so close in age!? She replied, she did it when she could! So then I asked her if she Actually filled it all in properly, and she said she put in what she remembered…meaning she did it when we were a bit older and maybe stretched the truth on some things!
I think it is great recording all of our children’s milestones like that first step, first word, first laugh, etc, but I think what has become more popular due to technology and the Internet is recording all this via vlogs (video blogs), like my friends and fellow Ottawa Valley Mom Erin and her family did with their daughter. I think too because all photography is digital now, that we are less likely to print those momentous pictures to add into our baby’s books.
My new goals are to finish my children’s baby books (since I have already started!) by their next birthday and hopefully I can remember enough details to have them enjoy it when they are older and have families of their own!
