Ready for a fun night out? Orpheus Musical Theatre Society is presenting Legally Blonde The Musical at Centrepointe Theatre from November 22 to December 1. It will be a show full of all things pink, with passion and purpose in the story and the performance.
Based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon, Legally Blonde The Musical tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrols at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner. Through the course of the show, she discovers a lot about herself and proves her capabilities all the while staying true to herself. Cindy Beaton, Legally Blonde’s artistic director, tells us, “It will be fun, irreverent and cheeky, while still reminding us not to change to please others or to fit in.”
The Orpheus production stars seasoned community actors, including Emily Reid as Elle Woods, Derek Eyamie as Emmet Forrest and Nicole Milne as Paulette. This trio worked together in 2012 when Nicole directed Emily and Derek in Rent.
Legally Blonde will also feature two very precious dogs: Navi plays Bruiser and Freddie is Rufus. Navi, a rescue dog, heard about the show at an Ottawa Humane Society event. Freddie is the beloved pet of one of the cast members. Both dogs auditioned for their parts.
