Peach Apple Crisp Hits the Spot

Yummy Peach Apple Crisp is simple to make and always a family hit

This classic recipe has endless variations. If the peaches have been eaten in the tie it took you to peel the apples, don’t worry. You can substitute raspberries, blueberries, just about any fresh or frozen (not unthawed) fruit. Berry crisp is delicious too, as is a fruit mixture containing mango. 

Peach Apple Crisp
4 large ripe peaches, peeled and diced
3 large apples, peeled and diced
⅓ cup granulated sugar
2 tbsp all purpose flour
2 tsp lemon juice

Topping
¾ cup brown sugar
¾ cup flour
¾ cup quick cook oats
½ cup soft butter
½ tsp cinnamon
For added crunch and nutrition, you can add ½ cup of sliced almonds to the topping. 

Combine the fruit, sugar, flour and lemon juice in a bowl.  Pour into a buttered glass baking dish. Set aside.
Mix together brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon and nuts, if using. Stir in the butter until the mix is crumbly. Sprinkle evenly over the surface of the fruit.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes, until the fruit is softened. Garnish as desired.
