Are you a mom who loves fashion? Treat yourself to spree of creativity and style, courtesy of Ottawa Fashion Week (OFW), February 8 to 10 at the Ottawa Convention Centre.
You’ll be dazzled by the talent of local designers: Jana Hanzel and Emilia Torabi of Jana & Emilia Fashion will showcase their one-of-a-kind designs and Bernice & Barclay will launch their premiere collection. Dare by Gwen Madiba, Eliz Bourk and Copious by Carissa McCaig will also return to show with OFW.
See the work of newcomer Tess Johnson, from New York, who is known for her body conscious draping and custom prints. Nigeria’s Anjoreen Couture by Anjorin Babatunde Adeniran will feature natural African and Italian silks and cottons.
Another newcomer, Strévé, will present unique fashions and accessories hand crafted in leather, suede, sheepskin, silk, lace and wool from Europe. This line is currently based out of Perth, though designer Cheryl Straby hails from Ottawa. Attendees will also get a look at the structured elegance of MUSE par Christian Chenail, as well as the daring refinement of Helmer by Joseph Helmer.
Collections are showcased Friday and Saturday from 6 to about 10:30 p.m. Sunday’s show begins at 5 p.m. and will feature celebrities on the runway, with a portion of proceeds going to Unicef. For details and tickets, check www.ottawafashionweek.ca.
