As we start the New year, and resolutions begin to appear, one thing to consider is are you taking enough time for you? As parents we tend to cater to other people and slowly begin to lose ourselves in the process. Have you ever felt like this, or do you feel like this now? Then it may be time to do some things for You.
Most days it is easier said than done, but it is needed in each of our lives. I know when I am in dire need of some me time without kids or even husband, because I feel like I am slowly going crazy, start to feel resentment and anger, which would not be there normally. I often get like this when my husband works for 21 days straight…wow I never wrote that before and realize truly how crazy that is! So I am sure he too needs some time without work, kids and me too after these long hauls!
Things to Try:
- Go for a walk with your mp3 player
- Go for a pedicure
- Go for a massage
- Try a fitness or Yoga class
- Find a quiet room at home and read
- Watch your favorite PVR’d show without interruptions!
- Go out with friends
So the point is to take that time before it gets bad, or too late or overdue. Make a resolution today to be selfish and to love and take care of you. We all know we can’t take care of others unless we take care of us first. Try to take time every day like a relaxing bath, reading a book, go shopping or for a coffee. Write down what you time you need and do it!!
