Avoid the Freshman 15, even if you’re not in school

If you’ve gone to college or university, you probably understand what it means to gain the “Freshman 15.” It’s the inevitable weight gain that happens as a result of being away from your mom’s cooking, and thrown into the world of cafeteria food, late-night take-out, beer and sleeping late. It happened to me and I’ll never forget the look on my mom’s face when she saw me for the first time when I came home for Thanksgiving. Luckily, I worked in landscaping for the summer with my dad to burn it off. That being said, I would have loved to have been warned and educated about how to avoid it.

If your kids have headed off to post-secondary school, and hopefully if they’re heading home for Thanksgiving in a few days, you can offer them this handy information to help keep the unwanted pounds off.

The folks at “The Best Colleges” recently send me this cute infographic with tips on how to avoid the “Freshmen 15.” It’s great for students and a good reminder for everyone else, too. Enjoy!
