Don’t Miss Early Years Expo

If you’ve got little ones or you’re planning to have little ones, don’t miss the Early Years Expo Saturday, May 4. It provides a unique opportunity, in one location, to discover all the help and support that are available and to access many service organizations. The popular annual event is taking place at South Fallingbrook Community Centre in Orléans. Running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., this special day is designed to promote the health of moms and babies and to support parent education.

You can find out about everything from early childhood nutrition, growth and development to safety and recreation. You can also discover all the great local organizations and businesses dedicated to pregnant moms and couples, babies and toddlers.

There will be over 35 exhibitors, plus seminars on issues such as breastfeeding, sensory playtime and feeding your baby or toddler.  In fact, the Early Year Expo has two parts:

An exhibitors‘ hall will introduce a wide variety of services and businesses, such as City of Ottawa Early Years Health Program and Dental Health, Ontario Early Years Centre Ottawa-Orleans, Kinder Sleep Solutions, Tummy Thyme and La Leche League.

In addition, professionals will give educational seminars.  These 30-minute sessions are offered in French and English and they’re free of charge.  Some seminars include handouts and some have fun demonstrations, such as baby sign language, child care, car-seat safety and nutrition.

This is one event, in particular, where tots and infants are welcome. A kid’s corner offers games and crafts, there are opportunities to meet and greet mascots and friendly characters, and family-friendly conveniences include breastfeeding, diaper change and snack areas.

There’s also an advantage in arriving early: the first 150 families receive a gift bag and have the opportunity to win many door prizes.
