Max and Ruby will be at Centrepointe Theatres on December 15. (In case you don’t know, according to Wikipedia, Max & Ruby is an animated children’s TV series based on a book series by Rosemary Wells. The story is “about two rabbits; Max, a rambunctious and determined three-year-old, and his older sister Ruby, a patient, goal-oriented, and sometimes restrictive seven-year-old.”)
This show in Ottawa is the chance for families to see their favourite bunnies live on stage in their fun and unique adaption of the Nutcracker. According to the Centrepointe Theatre website, “The magical story is set on Christmas Eve amid tree-trimming and gingerbread-baking. When a parcel arrives, Max and Ruby set about unwrapping toys from the Nutcracker Ballet, and are soon whisked away to an imaginary world where they can join the dance. Featuring delightful dancers performing original choreography by Patti Caplette, this 90-minute production comes from Koba Entertainment.”
Max & Ruby in the Nutcracker Suite will amaze children and adults alike. It’s also a great way to celebrate the holiday season. Shows are tomorrow, December 15, at 3:30 and 6:30 p.m.
As part of the show experience, the Nepean Visual Arts Centre will be running a pre-show activity. Children who turn up an hour before the show can make candy cane mice. These mice can be hung on the tree – or munched on after the show. (Another delectable option is to dunk it in your hot chocolate for a yummy minty treat).

On another note, Lisa Loeb will be at Centrepointe Theatre February 19. She will be performing a singalong for children at 2 p.m. and an adult show at 8 p.m. The 2 p.m. show includes songs from her release Nursery Rhyme Parade! Chock full of all the lullabies you know best, Loeb performs with her signature acoustic guitar and at times completely a cappella.
