Is there a youth in your family who’s politically engaged and interested in national affairs? If so, here’s a great opportunity.
As we all know, Canada’s Prime Minister has made youth engagement a priority of this government. Budget 2016 committed to the creation of a Prime Minister’s Youth Advisory Council. A few days ago, the Prime Minister launched the search for youth through the PM Youth Advisory Council webpage (https://www.canada.ca/en/campaign/prime-ministers-youth-council.html).
The Council will advise the Prime Minister on national issues such as employment, access to education, building stronger communities, climate change and clean growth. It will be comprised of up to 30 Canadians aged 16 to 24 years of age. A focus will be placed on diversity, with one young person from every province and territory, with varying backgrounds and language profiles. It is anticipated that the Council will meet multiple times per year.
– Youth will have until August 12 to join the first wave of Youth Council members who will meet with the Prime Minister in early October 2016.
– Youth have until October 7 to join the second wave of members who will meet -ith the inaugural members and the Prime Minister in 2017.
– The application form was launched on July 22, 2016.
