Roses and Candles Gala

This special event gives immigrant women a chance for a better life

The countdown is on for the annual Roses and Candles Gala. A special evening of live entertainment, fine foods and live and silent auctions, it’s taking place November 22 at the Hellenic Banquet Centre, 1315 Prince of Wales Drive in Ottawa.

A fundraiser, the high profile gala supports Immigrant Women Services Ottawa (IWSO) and its culturally responsive, timely and integrated services for immigrant women.
IWSO provides immigrant and visible minority women with the supports and tools to achieve their full potential as members of Canadian society. It also advocates for the elimination of abuse against women and children. In the past year, IWSO has served over 2,000 women. About 400 of those women were fleeing abuse.

Honorary chair of this year’s gala is award-winning international human rights activist Nazanin Afshin-Jam MacKay. The MC for the evening is Lois Lee from Rogers Daytime.

The evening’s auctions are pretty terrific, so don’t forget to bring your wallet. There are lots of amazing goodies for folks looking for holiday gifts. Auction items will include an iPhone 5, a NYC trip, a blind taste-testing at a popular downtown restaurant and a deluxe shopping experience.

The gala will also include an awards presentation for community members who support the success of immigrant women. For ticket information, contact: events@immigrantwomenservicesottawa.com.  For details or to make a donation, visit  immigrantwomenservices.com.
