Summer Apprenticeship for Youth Interested in the Arts

Is there a young person in your family who is interested in the arts? If so, there’s a great opportunity to get some real-life experience once the school year is finished.

Odyessy Theatre’s Youth Apprenticeship Program gives young people a chance to spend the summer with a professional theatre company. The program is geared to youth between the ages of 14 and 21 and it runs from June 30 to August 25.

Areas for apprenticeships include:

  • Performance
  • Directing
  • Stage Management
  • Administration
  • Front of House

Participants can learn first-hand about performance techniques, directing, stage management, administration (such as marketing, public relations) and front-of-house operations. Through this unique theatre immersion opportunity, apprentices get to participate in a masked performance, receive training and mentorship from professionals and complete the 40 hours of volunteer work required to finish high school.

The deadline for applications is May 16. For details, see http://www.odysseytheatre.ca/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/YAP-Brochure.pdf and
