Time to Detox

Everyone is interested in detoxing at this time of year. You’ve overdone it over the holidays, and want to rid your body of built-up toxins. Avoiding refined sugar, white carbs and packaged foods, and incorporating raw, fresh detoxifying foods into your diet is a great way to start.

I’ve put together an awesome smoothie recipe that includes fresh, raw ingredients that will do the trick.

 Purple Power Detox Smoothie
Serves 2


1 banana (potassium and natural sweetener)
1/2 raw beet (detoxifies liver, source of iron)
1/3 cup frozen organic blueberries (source of fibre and antioxidants)
1 cup organic baby spinach (source of iron and vitamin K)
1 stalk organic celery (source of B vitamins and fibre)
1 tbsp organic coconut oil (burns bad fats, kills bad bacteria)
3 tbsp lemon juice (alkalizing and detoxifying)
1 cup water
Handful of ice



Add ingredients to a high-powered blender, and blend until smooth. Pour and enjoy!

*To make it a complete breakfast, add a scoop of protein powder, such as Vega One Nutritional Shake.
