YUM! -> West End Food Truck Rally

Head to Bells Corners this Saturday, August 15, and bring your appetite—a big, big appetite. It’s okay to bring the kids, too, plus your significant other, friends, neighbours and extended family members. After all, the West End Food Truck Rally is something to celebrate and savour with lots of company.

Not only does this rally allow you to sample the goodies from some much heralded local food trucks, it also allows you to dine for a good cause; it will support an emergency food cupboard.

In total, there will be 10 food trucks offering delectable international cuisine in Bells Corners, all in support of FAMSAC, west Nepean’s emergency food cupboard.

Hosted by Christ Church Bells Corners and sponsored by Myers Automotive Group, this first-ever West End Food Truck Rally is taking place in the church’s parking lot at 3861 Old Richmond Road from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

FAMSAC (Family Services Association of Churches) supports up to 80 families each month through its food assistance program.  Earlier this year, a flood forced FAMSAC to move from its location at St Martin de Porres Church and begin renting storage space in a nearby strip mall.

As Erin Coffin, the West End Food Truck Rally’s coordinator, explains, “As soon as word of the flood spread, churches, businesses, service clubs and neighbours knew that something had to be done to sustain this important part of our community.  A conversation with a friend and food truck owner led to the idea of a rally.”

In a wonderful example of neighbours helping neighbours, Ad Mare, Big Ds Doghouse, Caribbean Cruiser, Culinary Meltdown, The Merry Dairy, Mr. Churritos, Pizza All’Antica, Plantainos, and Sula Wok quickly signed on and offered to donate 10 per cent of their proceeds from the event to FAMSAC.

“Their generosity will help to pay for FAMSAC’s temporary storage facility and ensure that the program can continue to serve local families in need,” Erin notes

Whether you are craving savoury or sweet delights, the West End Food Truck Rally is the place to be on August 15.  Admission is free, though visitors are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the FAMSAC food cupboard.

FAMSAC, a registered charitable organization, has been helping families in Bells Corners, Bayshore, Craig Henry, Crystal Beach, Manordale, and Trend Village since 1969.  Christ Church Bells Corners is an active, intergenerational Anglican parish and a dynamic presence in the community of Bells Corners that, since 1853, has been nurturing faith and serving the world.  It advocates social justice, engages in service projects, offers affordable community rental space, and provides financial assistance to organizations and initiatives at the local, national and international levels
